Vacations for the Carbon Friendly Traveler

Dozens keen snowboarders will before long be dusting down their ski gear and dashing off looking for the deepest snowfall. And beyond any doubt the results of your carbon footprint will be close to as far down the list of vacation to dos as a Christmas tree after xmas. Just last year, a late snowfall was in the tabloids and holidaymakers were frightened about the smattering of snow melting nearly as soon as they settled.

Ski organisation Chalet 1802, placed at the foot of Monte Bianco in Chamonix village in the French Alps, is one of the first autonomous businesses to go carbon negative and afford skiers an environmentally friendly alternative whilst organising their skiing holidays. Chalet1802 proprietor ESTEBE stated: Last winter was a bit of a surprise with the most warm wintertime in fifty five yrs in Europe. Ski ski fields like Auron, Flegere and Les Orres lacked clients. It was temperate and the snowfall didnt settle so much of the early season skiing season in the mountains was limited. We decided to go carbon neutral to assist in the preservation the snowboarding resort.

ESTEBE said: We are not trying to prescribe to clients only I consider it is important to afford the guests the option without augmenting the price of the vacation. When they book with us and holidays in our skiing chalet they may further off set their carbon footprint and we absorb the additional costs. Naturally we still have a sauna and a hot tub - people wish for luxury but not at the expense of the environs, so we looked at means of diminishing the impact of a client driving over here for a winter holiday.”

Chalet 1802 have moreover joined with organisation Climate Care, which attacks climate change by making C02 reductions on behalf of people and companies.
